Somerset Cider Brandy / Scotch Malt Whisky Society

SMWS - Somerset Cider Brandy Cask 1 Review

The Scotch Malt Whisky SocietyWell it turns out over the years the The Scotch Malt Whisky Society have occasionally bottled some weird and wonderful things as shown by this Somerest Cider Brandy Cask 1 bottling.

This sample was provided by my very good friend, and Somerset resident, Steve Prentice (@steveprentice) from the Somerset Whisky Blog.

Even when the The Scotch Malt Whisky Society do something thats not whisky, it's brilliant.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Huge toffee apple notes are the first impression of this unusual dram, freshly made caramel with bramley apples, reminds me very much of a cake i used to buy which was an apple pie with no top crust but instead was covered in caramel, very yummy.

Palate

sweet and tangy bramley apples with a touch of demerera sugar, some light toffee rounds off the palate

Finish

caramel covered apples.
