Glenmorangie Finealta Review

Tomatin 12yr Burns Malt (The Whisky Barrel) I've had a good few of the Glenmorangie Private Edition drams now but this was my first time tasting Finealta which had been provided to me by my good friend Yoav (@yoavgel) from the Whisky Gospel Blog.

A really interesting and unusal dram as this has been lightly peated which really does through you off guard when you expect this distillery character to be much more vanilla and citrus and no smoke.

It works though, and i think it works really well, i just wish i could get one now without the hassles of dealing with auctions which seem to be the only place to get them now.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

A very gentle whiff of smoke that borders on being more malty than peaty then there's some lovely notes of vanilla essence with lemon and lime growing in the background like a lovely gentle key lime pie.

Palate

really quite malty with whisps of smoke to the fore and lots of spicy key lime pie freshness, lovely vanilla essence & meringue also

Finish

vanilla meringue and gentle whispy smoke.
