Caol Ila / Scotch Malt Whisky Society

SMWS 53.135 - Ambush By the Sound of Islay Review

SMWS The second of the two The Scotch Malt Whisky Society bottling reviews that i'm posting this evening, both from the 10cl bottles which were part of my joining pack. This time it's the 53.135 Ambush By the Sound of Islay

The strongest ABV whisky i've tried to date at 66.0% ABV yet it doesnt taste that strong, loads and loads of BBQ chinese ribs in this one.

If you haven't already why not join the The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, if this is the type of whisky available it's worth the membership fee and more.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

BBQ Chinese Ribs, leathery, earthy, definite peat overload

Palate

tangy, smoky, peaty, strong but not as alcoholic as it should be

Finish

menthol and peat on the finish
