Discovery Road Smile 100% Rye Review

Discovery Road SMile It's fantastic to see new independant bottlers and when that independant bottler is the very awesome Dominic Roskrow (@whiskytasting), who is widely remembered for his books and time working for Whisky magazine, then it becomes very exctiting indeed.

Dominic now runs his World Whisky business and has just released a range of world whisky drams under his "Discovery Road" banner.

This particular dram, which is 100% Rye, is lovely, i'm still personally a bit unsure of Rye and tend to get a lot of brown bread in Rye drams which i get here but I certainly could easily drink this dram no problems.

I absolutely love the bottle style which look very decanter like and would look lovely on any whisky shelf.

Brilliant prices also why not pop over to Master of Malt to pick up one yourself.

Huge thanks to Dominic for the official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

An initial hit of brown bread on the nose that i tend to get from Rye drams followed by a hint of honeydew melon that gets stronger the more i stick my nose into the glass, it's fresh on one side and comes across with a hint of spice on the other.

Palate

Lots of sweetness here, with more of the light brown bread on here, it grows and grows and becomes quite spicy

Finish

long lasting spicy finish
