Balvenie 12 Year Old Single Barrel Review

Balvenie A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to go to The Balvenie Fete in Edinburgh. This event allowed casual passers by to pop in, sample some The Balvenie whiskies and learn a bit more about whisky, and The Balvenie.

There was also a prebookable tasting for The Balvenie Warehouse 24 members which went through 5 drams from their fantastic range, this was one of those drams.

This dram was matured in first-fill bourbon casks for at least 12 years before bottling. These are limited edition bottlings, with each bottle being one of no more than 300 drawn from a single cask. Each is also hand-numbered and labelled with the cask reference number.

You can pick up one of these crackers from Master Of Malt

If you haven't already i'd very much suggest you sign up to The Balvenie Warehouse 24 for some fantastic offeres and experiences.

Tasting Notes & Details

The first note that hits you here is a really strong note of Pear Drops, then a large dose of vanilla, some floral gums and the whole lot is covered in homemade vanilla custard.

Fresh fruit salad to the fore followed by fresh vanilla pod and a kick of spicy ground white pepper.

Peppery and fruity, very moreish
