Glen Garioch 1999 Vintage Sherry Cask Matured Review

Glen Garioch 1999 Vintage Sherry Cask Matured Yet again Rachel Barrie (@theladyblender), the very passionate master Blender for Auchentoshan, Bowmore and Glen Garioch, has done it again, as she has selected yet another stellar dram to be bottled in the form of this Glen Garioch 1999 Vintage Sherry Cask Matured

Handcrafted and matured in sherry casks for 14 years at the Highland Distillery this is a winter dram that will warm you up and keep the cold at bay. The sherry maturation has added some wonderful fruity notes that makes the mouth water whilst the spicy edge gives it that heat that will keep you warm on even the coldest of winter evenings.

You can still pick up a bottle of this, before it sells out, at The Whisky Exchange.

Many thanks to Glen Garioch for the official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Oh this is interesting, my first thoughts are Jamaican Ginger cake, there's a definite spicy note to kick start this with more dark fruits (plums, prunes and raisins) coming out as the whisky is left longer in the glass, touches of bitter dark chocolate and manuka honey with halloween treacle scones round off a lovely nose here.

Palate

lovely sweet dark fruits plums especially and raisins, prunes with liquorice and dark chocolate served with a slice of jamaican ginger cake

Finish

HUGE warming glow this really will warm the cockles
