Bowmore 23 Year Old 1989 Port Cask Review

Bowmore 23 Year Old Port wood The official Bowmore release states "Bowmore 23 years Old - a deliciously rich, smoky and complex dram that has been matured exclusively in port casks for 23 years giving it a deliciously dark colour and remarkably rich flavour" well who am i to argue!

This is a cracker of a dram with a full on edge of smoke that opens up to some of the fruitiest notes i've had in a whisky

if you can get a hold of one of these then do so, you will not regret it.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Sweet peat smoke, it's like lovely banana and banana skin on the BBQ, just beginning to smoke and release sweet notes, seaside air comes through also, then there's plum jam, and something that reminds me of Morello cherry with green and blacks 85% dark chocolate, i just want to eat this dram.

Palate

sea salt, sweet peat smoke and plum and cherry fruits, chocolate and homemade truffles.

Finish

the peat smoke is tame and the cherries and plums come through thick and fast
