Arran 14 Year (Royal Mile Whiskies) Review

Arran 14 Year (Royal Mile Whiskies) This is the first of a couple of reviews of Single Cask whisky releases by the Royal Mile Whiskies group, meaning they are available from either Royal Mile Whiskies or Drinkmonger stores or online.

Over the years Royal Mile Whiskies have done a number of exclusive bottlings and single casks and their Young Peaty Jura is still one of my all time favourite drams ever.

This is the Arran 14 Year Old private cask distilled in 1998 and matured for 14 years in an ex-Bourbon Hogshead, there's some really awesome vanilla and marzipan notes in this dram and i really enjoyed it.

Well priced and available only from Royal Mile Whiskies this release of only 201 bottles will surely sell out quickly and i would highly recommend you get a bottle.

Many thanks to Chris from Royal Mile Whiskies for the official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

the first thing that hits you from the nose on this Arran is vanilla, freshly scraped vanilla pods and lots of it, with an extra dose of vanilla essence then it adds in some crushed almonds and some fresh fruit, apple slices, melon, and a hint of tropical fruit juice.

Palate

crushed almonds and cherry bakewell are the first to arrive followed by creme brule and a good old dusting of vanilla pods and bramley apples.

Finish

sweet with marzipan and bramley apple.
