Benrinnes - Batch 1 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company) Review

Benrinnes That Boutiquey company batch 1 My very good friend Steve (@steveprentice) sent me on this sample of Benrinnes from That Boutique-y Whisky Company

There's some very much lovely notes in here but i'm overwhelmed by a rubbery note that reminds me of the kids gym rubbers for school which really disappointed me.

The whisky is drinkable but it does have that rubbery note in it.

Now sold out although Batch 2 is now available from Master of Malt.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

my first thought when nosing this is that my mouth watered, theres some really nice fruit notes in here, juicy plums, toffee apples and caramel covered apple and blueberry pie, the caramel then goes quite treacley and stronger. Theres a hint of rubber shoe soles (school gym rubber) in there that doesnt quite fit with the sweetness of the fruit and caramel but not enough to distract from the rest.

Palate

not as fruity as the nose would suggest, the rubber shoe soles are there a lot stronger and it's a more bitter kind of fruit, like overriped plums in lemon juice.

Finish

treacle and school gym rubbers.
