Highland Park New Make Spirit Review

Highland Park New Make We recently had the pleasure of Daryl Haldane (@darylhaldane) from Highland Park coming out to visit us at Livingston Whisky Club for a tasting and talk through some of the expressions that Highland Park have on the market at the moment.

Whenever i get the chance to try some new make spirit i jump at it with both hands, there's just something about it that i like, i know some distillers have likened it to Schnapps and i find it very interesting to see where the base product for the whisky i'm drinking comes from. You can also do this as Highland Park are one of the few distilleries who allow you to buy their new make spirit which you can pick up on their web shop for a very reasonable £21 for 35cl.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

i really like nosing new make, there's a familiar note that i can't pin down, it's been described as playdough which i could agree with so will go with that. Then there's freshly scraped vanilla pods and custard with very light smoke and a spoonful of heather honey

Palate

It is very easy drinking with a grainy sandy character more of the vanilla pods and heather honey and a touch of smoke

Finish

really pleasant i could easily drink this
