MacDuff / The Deveron

Glen Deveron 10 Year Old Review

Glen Deveron 10 Year Old This Glen Deveron, from the MacDuff Distillery, is a really interesting dram and also one I can tick off from Ian Buxton's (@101whiskies) 101 World Whiskies to Try Before You Die.

The nose on this whisky really is stunning but the palate doesnt live up to the nose for me and is a touch watery. There are a few others in the range with the 16, 20 and 30 being available only at Duty Free and after having a wee sample of the 16 i think age works well with this distillery as the 16 really shone both in terms of the nose and palate, i'll do a fuller review of the 16 soon.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

OoOoOoOoOoO the nose on this is lovely, starts off with some gentle syrupy sweetness and gets more toffee'd from there going full on treacle, there's a hint of oak but the caramel, treacle sweetness really hides everything else.

Palate

quite watery, there's a whole lot of light treacle in here but it has a bit of a growing punch and becomes quite tarte

Finish

tarte and warming, not the best taste but drinkable
