Nikka All Malt Review

Nikka All Malt Furthering my month of Blended whisky i had persuaded the guys from the #12dramsofxmas blind tastings to go along with #12blends. The purpose of #12blends is simple, 12 whisky bloggers and twitterers would send the other 11 a sample of a blended whisky marked only with their random number. The point being on a set day between 1st and 12th April that the other 11 would try to guess what the whisky is scoring points for Producer, Expression, Age and ABV with the overall winner being awarded a bottle of Compass Box Asyla kindly donated by the brilliant blended whisky producers Compass Box.

I've let it a few days before starting these reviews just so that i can catch up and also as some i have reviewed before, even though i'm unlikely to remember them.

Next up and day 2 was Sandy (@sjjgo) with Nikka All Malt a blended malt (used to be called vatted malt until Nov 2011 in Scotland).

My stupid guess for this was Wild Geese Rare Irish Whiskey 43%

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Sweeter and more grain like, it's familiar to me with that lovely grassy note with a mixed sweetness from green grass and juicy caramel like notes, sweet and juicy, loving the nose on this dram

Palate

quite light not a huge amount to it, very subtle and light with not a huge amount to it other than some light caramel and green grass, a touch of peppery spice on the tongue also.

Finish

grows to a warming finish lovely and subtle
