Glenrothes / Glenrothes

Glenrothes 1995 Vintage Review

Glenrothes 1995 This was the original vintage which Glenrothes wanted to release but they waited a little while and released the 1998 instead, that wait really paid off and this is a fantastically rounded dram and one i'd happily keep going back to for more.

Another cracking Twitter Tasting, this time I was invited in by Amanda from The Whisky Lounge to a Glenrothes Vintages Twitter Tasting.

Other than the Select Reserve I've not had a huge amount of dealings with Glenrothes so i was really looking forward to this.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Lovely toffee apple notes, reminds me of halloween, theres a touch of puff candy and undercooked pastry, an extra whiff of cheerios and more of the bramley apples, little touch of wax furniture polish.

Palate

more of a floral gummyness with apple and spices, maybe cinnamon, quite subtle but with a real spice kick, opens out to some apple strudel

Finish

quite soft on the finish but very drying and a little tannic
