Sainsburys Taste The Difference Speyside (NCF) Review

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference With whisky, like many other things, there's a great deal of snobbery going on. Some people are unwilling to try blends or supermarket own brand whiskies decreeing them as unworthy of their attention despite the fact that many are just as good, if not better, that some of the other products on the market today.

With that i mind i was amazed when one of the 12 Drams of Xmas whiskies turned out to be a Sainsburys own brand (Taste the Difference) whisky. It was great, in fact better than some of the other Islay whiskies i've had over the years and for £20 a bottle it's worthy of trying.

So when i was offered the chance of a sample swap that included a Sainsburys Taste the Difference Speyside i jumped at the chance. This particlar version is the 46% Non chill filtered range which they discontinued at the back end of 2012 but i will review the ones in the new range in the coming months.

Huge thanks to Adrian for this sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Super sweet, almost sugared sweet, like lashings of demerera sugar and honey, has that sherried fruityness that i like too, touches of candied orange peel and after a while like oak

theres a touch of oak to begin with then it just gets really sweet, honey and candied orange but absolutely lovely.

warmth and sweet
