Caperdonich 17 Year Old / The Rare Casks (Abbey Whisky) Review

Caperdonich 17 The 1st release in 'The Rare Casks' series by Abbey Whisky is this magnificent Caperdonich 17 year old single malt Scotch whisky. This limited edition release was distilled in 1995 and left to rest for 17 years before being bottled in 2012 with only 96 bottles filled.

We talked about this release earlier in the week here now it's time to review it.

What a stunning dram this is, subtle but amazing nose and brilliantly complex flavours, i could genuinely sit and sip this for hours on end.

Remember this stunning dram is only available to buy from Abbey Whisky.

Thank you to Abbey Whisky for the Official Sample

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Poured my dram then got interupted by a text, when replying to it i noticed a sweet nutmeg and cinnamon smell eminating from the glass, when i nosed properly this was added to with some more spices, mainly chinese cooking spices. the longer i nose it the more fresh fruits i'm getting some christmasy satsumas, some fresh pineapple and banana all appearing nicely.

Palate

A very pleasant mouthfeel with creamy caramel and fruits intersperced with notes of winter spices and pepper. Doesnt feel hugely firey given the alcohol content.

Finish

Warm and wintery, could see this being very nice with a roaring open fire and good company.
