Laphroaig 15 Year Old (The Old Malt Cask) Review

Laphroaig 15 old Malt Cask I've seen these "The Old Malt Cask" series bottlings from Douglas Laing and decided it was time i tried them so i picked up a couple and from this first one i'm really glad i did.

This Laphroaig 15 Year Old, distilled in 1996 and bottled in 2011, is a stunning example of just how good Laphroaig is, with the trademark TCP medicinal notes and a whole lot more besides.

Drop by The Whisky Exchange and pick up a bottle before they all disappear.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

TCP, medicinial, earthy, smoky, meaty, very much a big chewy malt, freshly ground black peppercorns, once past the peaty notes you get lots of demerera sugar sweetness

Palate

cuban cigars, demerera sugar and meaty, maybe beef jerky

Finish

fizzing and prickly on the throat, but that medicinal smoke lasts forever
