Ezra Brooks / Ezra Brooks

Ezra Brooks Kentucky Sour Mash Bourbon Review

Lux Row TastingThe second of four drams tasted as part of The Whisky Wire Lux Row Distillers Tweet Tasting and the one most like the bourbons i was expecting.

This is the one of the four drams that was most like the dram i was expecting, it's filled with sweetness and hints of preserved lemons, a touch of clove spice.

Not overly complex and not overly exciting but a really easy drinker, if you wanted a bourbon to have with Coke, or using with cocktails i would go for this, if you wanted something a little more sipping then there are better options for a couple of quid more.

Make sure you follow Tweet Tastings on Twitter to be up to date with all the potential tastings that you could be lucky enough to be a part of.

Thanks to Lux Row Distillers and The Whisky Wire for this Tweet Tasting.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Much more the traditional bourbon i was expecting, vanilla sweetness but with preserved lemons edging in too, some dry cardboard & a definite hint of those citrus travel sweets. something spicy there too want to say clove or cardimon

Palate

I'm finding this a little lacking, i think the Cognac finish first didn't help with that, easy going and i would suggest not hugely complex, theres a sweetness there with a hint of clove and nutmeg down the sides of the tongue, but you need to work at it to get the best from it.

Finish

a bit too easily gone from the finish.
