Rebel Yell / Rebel Yell

Rebel Yell Cognac Cask Finish Review

Lux Row TastingThe first of four drams tasted as part of The Whisky Wire Lux Row Distillers Tweet Tasting this was one i really enjoyed.

Bourbon can be something i can be happy to have a ttimes but theres not many of them that really inspire me, but i was very curious about this Cognac finished dram.

Gentler than i expected and none of the normal super sweet bourbon notes but a lot of spice and complex flavour notes, this is a really tasty dram that could easily make you think twice about whether you like bourbon or not.

For around £35 a bottle this is huge bang for your buck and one i would wholeheartedly recommend.

Make sure you follow Tweet Tastings on Twitter to be up to date with all the potential tastings that you could be lucky enough to be a part of.

Thanks to Lux Row Distillers and The Whisky Wire for this Tweet Tasting.

Tasting Notes & Details

Much more gentle that i had expected initially, sweet elements first sugary sweet, buttery too, reminds me of cinnamon dusted donuts, but with a wholemeal flour, Cherry drops and a hint of eucalyptus, oaky notes come through next and then something a little more

This is much bigger on the palate than the nose lets you think, tingly fresh ginger spice mixes with cherry drops and orange peel, the second half and finish goes muscovado sugary sweet, hints of flaky pasty apple strudel too

long and sweet with murcovado sugar and a cherry drop
