Green Isle Blended Scotch Whisky Review

DESCRIPTION It might have been quite some time sine there was a review on the site, a lot has happened in the early parts of 2020 from work to a full on global pandemic meaning my priorities have been elsewhere but back to trying some whisky

This Green Isle Blended Scotch Whisky from The Character of Islay Whisky Company and takes its name from early descriptions of Islay as the Green Isle.

A really interesting dram, the nose hides well the peat which appears more on the palate and finish as edges of spice and heat, very easily drinkable, a very enjoyable dram this one.

You can pick up a bottle of this for a very reasonable price at specialists like Master of Malt.

Many thanks to Atom Brands for the sample of this delicious dram

Tasting Notes & Details

I was expecting this to be more punchy peat up front but there are some lovely caramel covered crunchy golden delicious apples, flapjack toasted oats and treacle notes, hints of salty sea air and a touch of smoldering driftwood

Gently smoke, mixes with burnt ends and toasted caramel flapjack, caramelised crunchy apples again add some softness, and sweetness, A trickle of heat that reminds me of freshly grated ginger, although it builds to almost the level of chili flakes on the odd larger sip.

Soft liquorice notes initially, then a glow of fresh ginger heat and puffs of smoke, whilst having a drying effect
