Balblair 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky Review

Balblair 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky In mid 2019 Balblair replaced their highly acclaimed and much awarded vintage range with a new range of age statement whiskies, I was lucky enough to partake in a twitter tasting of the 12, 15, 17 and 18 year old expressions and these are my notes and impressions of the 18 year old.

The 18 year old is the oldest inthe range that I have been lucky enough to try, there is a 25 year old that I will try to get my hands on to give a try to, but it is so much more expensive than the equivalent vintage one it almost makes it not worth doing.

This 18 year old, for me, has a lot of sherry influence and for the first time the palate and nose have real balance both giving toffee, nut, spice, thick fruits, figes and chocolate all things that i find on the more delicous side of ex sherry casks, for me this is the stand out dram of the range and i really wish the others in the range had this level of balance.

Available to purchase from all good specialists such as Master of Malt.

This Balblair was tasted as part of the #BalblairWhisky Tweet Tasting, thank you to Balblair for supplying the official samples.
