Balblair 17 Year Old Travel Retail Exclusive Single Malt Scotch Whisky Review

Balblair 17 Year Old Travel Retail Exclusive Single Malt Scotch Whisky In mid 2019 Balblair replaced their highly acclaimed and much awarded vintage range with a new range of age statement whiskies, I was lucky enough to partake in a twitter tasting of the 12, 15, 17 and 18 year old expressions and these are my notes and impressions of the 17 year old.

Only available to pick up from Global Travel Retail outlets, so airports, ferry terminals etc, it is pleasing to see a Travel Retail Exclusive that carries an age statement and is not yet another of the Non Age Statement brigade that seemed to be constantly added to travel retail line ups.

This dram reminds me a lot of the 15 year old in that i absolutely love the fruity juicy notes on the nose but the palate has gone more spicy, sour fruits and pith and peel, it is like both of these drams are ex bourbon forward on the nose but ex sherry forward on the palate, it is a really confusing time for my brain on these drams and i really just wished they were balanced one way or the other so that the palate and nose matched.

Available to purchase from Travel Retail suppliers such as World Duty Free.

This Balblair was tasted as part of the #BalblairWhisky Tweet Tasting, thank you to Balblair for supplying the official samples.
