Tamdhu 15 Year Old Review

Tamdhu 15 Year Old I've been lucky enough to try a number of Tamdhu expressions recently and in general, despite the fact they are all heavily sherried, i've been finding them very palatable.

This 15 year old is a recent release, only being on the market for a month or so, which makes this really interesting to try this early.

Only available for specialist retailers (i.e. Not for supermarkets, duty free etc) which is always nice to see, this is now part of the Tamdhu core range.

I really enjoyed this, although i did find it quite light, I was expecting a fair punch of fruit, spice and maybe even some rubbery notes, which i didn't get, it is light, fruity and the sherry influence hasn't taken over completely.

Around £80 a bottle for this, which for me is good drinking whisky.

Pick one up from specialists like Master of Malt

Thanks to Tamdhu for the very generous official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Despite the colour this is lighter on the nose than i was initially fearing, glace cherries and punnets of fresh Scottish Raspberries come first then cinnamon topped sweet sugary apple strudel.

Initially quite fresh and sweet on the palate, honeydew melon balls, more of the glace cherries and raspberries, the apple strudel has gone completely and been replaced with something more tarte, preserved lemons initially but then masked in waves of gentle pepperyness

Fruity, but dry and long lasting pepper note
