Jameson Bow Street 18 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 2 Review

Jameson Bow Street 18 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 2 I spend a fair amount of time drinking whisky and whiskey from around the world, but i have a real fondness for Jameson irish Whiskey, I&apos:ve had a number of friends who swore by it, and my time at Bow St for St Patricks Day was epic.

This Jameson Bow Street 18 Years is a special blend of rare pot still and grain Irish whiskeys produced at the Midleton distillery. Aged for 18 years the pot still and grain whiskeys are married together and spend their final finishing period at the Jameson Distillery Bow Street in Dublin.

Originally released as a 55.3% abv version in 2018, this 55.1% abv 2019 version is next on the list to try.

The nose is big and easy to follow, fruity, juicy, tropical, vanilla, dusty, furniture polish; the palate follows this but adds wasabi nuts heat and tickle to the mouth and a thickness i wasn't expecting.

This is a huge dram, and not for the feint hearted, the nose is enticing the palate and finish warming, a definite cold snowy day dram and one for the special occasions, this isn't going to be a bottle you want to empty in one night and for me that's a good thing.

Available to buy directly from the distillery online shop or check out specialists like Master of Malt for the first batch and for this batch arriving.

Thanks to Jameson for the generous sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Poured straight from the bottle it has that soft delicate grain note, vanilla and tropical fruit (tinned and with soft fruit juice) then a splash of mixed seeds like sesame and sunflower seeds, a hint of dusty stately homes (gentle dusty, furniture polish and old leather) before a bright spark of vanilla essence and blood oranges comes through from the background.

Palate

Tangy fruits, tropical fruit salad again, fresh this time, with nectarine to the fore, those dusty stately homes are back again and the seeds, but there's a splash of crushed wasabi nuts in there also adding head and mouthfeel

Finish

Wasabi covered nuts, dusty, fruity, long.
