Glencadam 19 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Finish Review

Glencadam 19 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Finish Glencadam is another of the distilleries i need to spend more time with, I have tried a lot of the range but at times when taking notes was anything but the best option, I do not think it is fair to do notes at certain times without giving the whisky all of your attention.

One of those distilleries that many people will overlook for no apparent reason I would highly recommend you seeking them out at festivals or finding a time when you can catch up with ambassador Iain at tastings as you will love every minute of it.

This is a tasty juicy, fruity, toffee, chocolate yummy dram that has all the good notes from Oloroso along with a wasabi heat that makes you stand up and take notice. This is a dram i think suits wintery/autumnal evening walks as a hip flask dram, as well as the kind of dram you would be happy sitting sipping next to an open fire whilst reading a good book.

Pick up a bottle from your local specialist or online from somewhere like Master of Malt

Thanks to Iain from Glencadam for the sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

The nose here is rich, really rich, dark demerera sugar coated apricot slices, touches of prune juice, caramelised fig halves with a treacle toffee and milk chocolate sauce, some vanilla and hints of acetone in the background.

Palate

Quite chewy and thick for 46%, lots of juicy plums and those figs in treacle toffee and chocolate are back again, a hint of salted peanuts mixes with wasabi peas and sweet mincemeat with orange peel and raisin quite strong.

Finish

weet, dark fruits, wasabi heat
