Glenfarclas 12 Year Old Exclusively for Drinks by the Dram Review

Glenfarclas 12 Year Old Exclusively for Drinks by the Dram The standard bottle of Glenfarclas 12 Year Old, which I've just realised I haven't reviewed on here, which is an absolute travesty, is great but does lack a little something, this really has me interested.

The standard bottlings, most of which other than the 105, tend to be at a lower 40% level and as Glenfarlcas doesn't really appear as an independent bottling, especially not with the name on it, other than knowing that The Scotch Malt Whisky Society distillery 1 is from this distillery.

The nose on this is huge, lots of treacle and a brilliant beeswax boot polish note, the palate loses the boot polish but adds in a chalky, chocolate and fruity note, this is exceptional and shows really why distilleries should release whiskies at a higher abv more often.

Available to buy from specialists like Master of Malt

Thanks to Drinks by the Dram for the 2018 advent calendar that this was part of.

Tasting Notes & Details

Beeswax boot polish, the really good stuff, and a hint of treacle toffee, touches of treacle scones, including the doughy scone mix, big juicy dates and dried apricots, lots of acetone and big fruits, apple jam and marmalade.

Quite chalky initially with lots of big fruit notes, gentle heat from cinnamon and nutmeg along with apple jam and more of those treacle scones, hints of smooth milk chocolate (think galaxy) and a gentle touch of leather

Long acetone and leather with treacle and cinnamon
