Remarkable Regional Malts With A Twist 10 Years Old Review

Remarkable Regional Malts With A Twist 10 Years Old The Remarkable Regional Malts With A Twist 10 Years Old is a limited edition, one of 5000 bottles, which features all of the regions in one dram, it also comes in a fabulous gift carton which can be moved around to create a mix up of all the Remarkable Regional Malts colourful characters.

As anyone who has met me, or seen my arm of whisky tattoos, will attest to I'm a bit of a fan of Douglas Laing and their Remarkable Regional Malts series and so I'm really excited by this dram. Flavour wise this really is a bit of everything, i get the smoke and salt from Big Peat and Rock Oyster, the fruits and vanilla of Timorous Beastie and Scallywag, I absolutely love this dram, it brings out everything I like in a whisky and I could happily sit and find more and more flavours in it with the underlying complexity of this dram.

If you can grab one do so you really will not be disappointed.

Thanks to Douglas Laing for the official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

A light salty, light smoky, light lemony nose starts first, then a creamy smoke that lifts out of the glass, it becomes rather fruity with barley sugars and citrus travel sweets (without the powder) combining to give it a sweet enticing nose, buttermilk and vanilla cream hover around also

The salty, peat smoke is rampant on the palate here at first, the peat is soft and creamy and not the harsh earthy vegative peat that you sometimes get. The creamy notes combine with barley sugars and travel sweets again and it's all covered in a brine / seaside coastal salinity with a hint of ginger.

Sweet, saline, tasty
