Grants Triple Wood Smoky Blended Scotch Whisky Review

Grants Rum Cask Finish Blended Scotch Whisky The popularity of peated whiskies has let to an abundance of odd ball drams, like peated Balvenie and the black grouse, and this is another on that list of odd balls! This dram was tasted as part of a tweet tasting featuring drams from the new Grants range of blended Scotch.

for a "smoky" whisky it's not that smoky, theres burnt ends and some smouldering wood notes but not much else to it that that, it's too light on the smoke to really be called a smoky dram and theres not enough other complexity in it for it to be anything else.

For me this is a miss thats way wide of the mark of what they were aiming for, try again please guys.

Available from Supermarkets for around the £15-18 mark..

Thanks to The Whisky Wire for including me in this tweet tasting.

Tasting Notes & Details

Theres not much smoke to that, it's like one of those posh restaurants that lift a smoky cloud off the plate and then you cant really smell the smoke after, mixed garden herby, ginger, lemongrass, light smouldering wood chips, burnt ends, meaty

Theres that smoke, its odd though, almost artificial or smouldering plastic, a touch metallic and very "raw", the herbs are back and joined by a touch of Liqourice,

Liquorice, herby
