A Fine Christmas Malt 17 Year Old Review

A Fine Christmas Malt 17 Year Old This Fine Christmas Malt from The Whisky Exchange from an unnamed Speyside distillery, that almost every man and his dog cold guess, is exactly as Christmasy as it should be.

A definite sherry influence all over this dram, with huge sweet sherry influence on the nose with dark treacle and apricot jam, then a spicy influence of peppered steak and cinnamon sugar on the palate.

This is the kind of dram that will have people going "It tastes like Christmas" and this one I'd be happy to agree with them about.

Still some available now from The Whisky Exchange but I don't expect it to be around for too much longer.

Thanks to The Whisky Exchange for the official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Oh yum, this is how sherried whiskies should be, theres a sweetness initially, with sticky dark treacle and golden syrup, definitely sherry soaked raisins, apricot jam and a touch of thick cut seville orange marmalade

Palate

For the ABV this is quite light and tasty, theres a tang of peppered steak and then some treacle covered dried apricot, more of the syrup and some cinnamon spiced sugar comes in also

Finish

Cinnamon spiced sugar, peppered steak, long lasting, orange zest notes
