Williamson 6 Year Old Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (AD Rattray) Review

Williamson 6 Year Old Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (AD Rattray) This is yet another of those really interesting drams, Williamson is a blended malt but this comes from a single sherry butt. It is basically from one distillery with a teaspoon of whisky from another.

I've had Williamson a few times and a quick google of williamson islay will give you an idea of where this is likely from.

Tasted as part of the AD Rattray tweet tasting this is hugely tasty but also hugely alcoholic with over 60% abv and definitely needs a splash of water.

Lots of meaty chewy notes, and definite Edinburgh Rock notes on the nose.

Thanks to The Whisky Wire for including me on this tweet tasting.

Tasting Notes & Details

This is chalky for sure, @rodbodtoo this one has those edinburgh rock notes, but it's prune and nectarine flavoured, iodine and medicinal smoke, shellfish, oysters and lobster bisque, menthol and eucalyptus lockets, hint of honey sweetness that goes baby powder dry quickly also.

Tingly and sweet spices, a bit of sweet chilli sauce on an overdone BBQ'd burger, chalky and charcoal like, definite iodine notes, tames with water and becomes more fruity, citrus travel sweets

Hugely powerful spicy and fruity, delicious stuff
