R L Seales 10 Year Old Rum Review

R L Seales 10 Year Old Rum Another from the recent Tweet Tasting By The Floating Rum Shack of rums from the Foursquare Distillery which was one i'd heard of but not partaken of previously.

The bottle design on this dark Barbados um is something else, it really does look like an old fashioned Flagon and i want one in my cupboard at home just for that.

The rum itself is tasty but seems a little thin, even for 46%, and the finish is quite short, gluey and underwhelming, i was a little disappointed in the mouthfeel and finish despite the fact i liked the overall flavour profile, one that had me scratching my head for sure.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

quite acetone, gluey initially, orange pith, finding this more difficult to find notes beyond the acetone, some light cashew nut notes and maybe a hint of pistachio, touch of mechanical oil, WD40 maybe and definite some snapped twig woody notes

Palate

initially feels thick but that doesn’t last, more orange pith and glue notes, wd40 and cashew nuts again, feels weak and underwhelming, touches of cinnamon with further sips

Finish

orange, glue wd40, underwhelming
