Tamdhu Batch Strength Batch 003 Review

Tamdhu Batch Strength Batch 003 Tamdhu mature all, well I believe all, of the whisky in-house in sherry butts with Oloroso sherry being the cask of choice, because of this Tamdhu is not a distillery I tend to hunt out and try.

This is nice sherry influence here with none of those rubbery notes I dislike from many sherry casks. And one I quite enjoyed, a bit too sherry influenced for a warm summer evening but I reckon I’d be more than happy to sit and sip this on an autumn or spring evening with a good book.

Still available from many good specialists like Master of Malt

This was sent to me as a sample for a twitter tasting hosted by The Whisky Wire but work incidents meant I didn’t make the tasting so catching up now.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

And there it is straight away, that initial fruit cake and glass of cola note that I expect from Tamdhu, with all their own whisky being matured in sherry casks those are notes we would expect anyway, nuts but more cashew nuts and then some Coca Cola cooked chicken meaty but sweet and sticky notes.

Palate

Oh spices and lots of them, toasted dry spices, cinnamon, cumin, turmeric and more, then fruit cake dipped in cola, white pepper and tangy orange pith and peel, lots of flavours bouncing off the palate.

Finish

Spices and pepper, fruit cask and cola again, ongoing and lasting
