Aberfeldy 1999 Single Cask #5 Review

Aberfeldy 1999 Single Cask #5 My good friend Barry from The Whisky Philes recently took part in a tweet tasting of this Aberfeldy dram with The Whisky Wire and shared some of the generous samples from these single cask expressions with me.

This dram comes from cask number 5 from 1999 and has been matured in an ex Oloroso Sherry butt for its entire life.

I'm always seriously aware of my dislike of sherried drams, but occasionally i can come across a good one and this is a good one, i really enjoyed the sweetness on this and the notes of cheap flat cola with mahogany and vintage car (a bit foosty, a bit leathery, a bit exciting) works well here and this is one i would definitely be happy to have.

This was a single cask, distillery exclusive, from Aberfeldy Distillery.

Thanks to Barry at The Whisky Philes for sharing his samples.
