Benriach 2008 (Cask 7880) Review

Benriach 2008 (Cask 7880) The Benriach batch 14 single casks, released a short while back, had been snapped up in many specialists even before hitting the shelves and my day job had me pretty busy so it's taken some time to get through to this one.

I know this is very much a "if you had the chance you would have liked to have bought one" but these just dont sit around long enough to get any review out before they sell out.

Peated Benriach in a First Fill Marsala cask, now that sounds like something i should like, sweet and smoky, wine influence, but the good stuff.

I'm unsure about this, I really can't decide if it's too ashy or too fruity, very unusual if nothing else. A touch of water added to see if it would tame has wiped out the whole flavour.

Already sold out at Specialists like Master of Malt but there may be one or two still around.

Thanks to The Benriach for the official samples.
