Glen Moray 12yr Elgin Heritage Review

Glen Moray 12yr Elgin Heritage The entry level dram from Glen Morays Elgin Heritage range and matured exclusively in American Oak casks, this dram was described to me by The distillery’s Iain Allan as the typical Speyside dram and to be fair I can’t disagree.

I’m a huge fan of this and with a seriously good price point I can see why many, including Iain, would describe this as a synonymous Speysider. Rich complex fruity, bold just the way I like it.

Available to buy from Master of Malt

Thanks to Glen Moray for the official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Apples and pears drops, lots of pear upside down cake, under cooked pastry, hints of black currants and custard, a little toffee sauce and little cooked white chocolate, there’s also still an underlying barley.

Palate

Rich toffee sauce, then apple, raspberry and black currant crumble, hints of dough and a tasty cereal note with some custard

Finish

Cereal notes and gentle spiced vanilla sugar.
