Old Ballantruan (NAS) Review

Old Ballantruan Tasted as part of The Whisky Wires OB10TT tweet tasting

This NAS peated speysider is a stunning example of the work being done at Tomintoul distillery, and why you should not think Peated = Islay as in my opinion this really does out-Islay a lot of the Islays.

Remember to keep an eye out for this and you could even pick up a bottle from The Whisky Exchange

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

sweet grassy / hay notes hiding under a blanket of smooth peated goodness, a summer campfire in a hay field

Palate

more of the hay.wheat combination still has that campfire on the tongue, some Kola Kubes, very drinkable

Finish

smooth and silky especially for 50%ABV
