Benriach 2006 (Cask 7360) Review

Benriach 2006 (Cask 7360) Another from a set of reviews of Benriach batch 14 single casks, although these have just been released they already seem to have been snapped up in many specialists.

I was really excited about this dram, but it's 100% not for me after trying it, this almost made it into the utterly undrinkable pile, it is so filled with wood spices and tannins, it's horrendously dry and very much not to my palate, the notes are there however so if it sounds like its up your street give it a try, but don't say i didn't warn you.

Already seems to have sold out from Specialists like The Green Welly Stop but there may be one or two still around.

Thanks to The Benriach for the official samples.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Spicy and definite oak notes but there's a sweetness with Maduro wrapped cigars and Christmas cake spice mix, almost smells cold, cookie dough, chocolate chip cookies, sweet maple syrup dipped biscuits also

Palate

Wood is strong here dry tannic spices and more oak, then oak leaf sauce, with water still spicy and quite closed, more pine as well

Finish

Tannic dry and spices, with water not so dry but still spicy
