Jura 1996 Boutique Barrel - 2010 Feis Ile Review

Jura 1996 Boutique Barrel - 2010 Feis Ile This is another dram from the selection hand picked by Charles MacLean for the Kaleidoscope bar at The Scotch Malt Whisky Society Queen St venue.

This Jura was bottled for the 2010 Feis Ile and was aged in a French Limousin oak cask which was chosen by a select group of Jura residents from the distillery's warehouses. there were a total of only 493 bottles available.

A really interesting dram this, with much more spice than i'm used to with Jura, assume from the Limousin cask, along with those lovely malty and citrussy notes i love, this is definitely the type of dram i enjoy.

Only really auction houses that are likely to have this and there won't be many about.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Malty spicy and sweet all in one, it's like a sweet. Christmas cake with soreen and a dusting of Chinese 5 spice, goes softer and more grassy sweet with a touch of early morning dew, a gentle puff of cask char helps this round off.

Palate

Sweet juicy fruit chewing gum and a tang of bitter orange pith with orange peel oil and dewy grass

Finish

Sweet juicy yum
