SMWS 35.183 A Polar Bears Birthday Cake Review

smws The first of three reviews today of drams from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society march outturn, this is 35.183 A Polar Bears Birthday Cake.

This is an interesting dram, really gentle sweet and fruity, my wife actually said his was a whisky she really liked the nose of which is great as normally she's not a fan, tasty stuff this.

Hugely sweet notes that remind me of Arctic Roll, and a splash of wood spice, this is a great dram and reminds me just why i love this distillery so much.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

The initial nose reminds me of arctic roll, that combination of sponge cake, strawberry jam and vanilla ice cream, then a spark of juicy fruit chewing gum, before some sweet balsa wood and oak spices with a smidge of cask char.

Palate

Sweet juicy and fresh, more of that arctic roll with strawberry jam, vanilla ice cream and then a touch of gentle warming spices, more of those gentle cask char notes

Finish

Sweet, vanilla ice cream, gentle spices
