Hazelburn 9 year old Barolo Cask Review

Hazelburn 9 year old Barolo Cask Thanks to JJ at Whisky Rover for the sample of this Hazelburn 9 year old Barolo Cask, i was really interesting in this and so glad of being able to try it.

most people know i'm not a huge fan of wine, or wine casked whiskies, but i was really intrigued by this one and was really into trying it.

Delicious stuff not a huge wine influence, lots of delicious fruity notes, dusty, dirty and a whiff of drying astringent notes, seriously big mouthfeel and a fabulous dram overall

Still available at The Green Welly Stop for the moment.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Light and fresh, much fresher than initially expected, milk bottle sweets and a gentle whiff of oily smoke, a touch drying and astringent, slight herbaceous green notes, a hint of greengages and soor plooms and toasted pineapple chunks, dusty and dirty with time in the glass

Palate

More of the toasted pineapple chunks and milk bottle sweets, eases after the first sip but huge mouthfeel, greengages and lots of fresh herbaceous notes with a hint of oil and butter

Finish

Chewy, caramelised blackberries, huge menthol
