Bunnahabhain / Wm Cadenhead

Bunnahabhain 1999 16yr (Wm Cadenhead) Review

Bunnahabhain 1999 16yr (Wm Cadenhead) A small batch, single cask, Cadenheads Bunnahabhain from 1999 matured for 16 years in a sherry butt, this sounds really interesting and equally scary.

This is really interesting, i would almost have said it was matured in rum due to the massive Cuba Libre type notes on the nose and finish and the aromatic leaf notes on the palate. this doesn't come across like a sherried dram at all.

Seriously tasty and surprisingly interesting, a real stormer of a dram.

If you're not already drinking Cadenheads bottlings get over to Whisky Tasting Room to see their range today.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Quite oily and thick, a light puff of earthy smoke in the background, almost run like with Cuba libre (run and coke) notes, aromatic leaf and gentle cadburys fruit and nut notes, gentle spiced fruits with a hint of pine air freshener

Palate

Spiced fruit cake, tangy aromatic leaf, a touch of prunes and Carib covered raisins, dried fruit froyo and a splash of tangy orange peel

Finish

Interesting Cuba libre like finish sweet and tangy
