Springbank Society Bottling 2013 Review

Springbank Society Bottling 2013 This is yet another interesting dram, being the Springbank Society bottling from November 2013, which is a 12 year old Springbank matured in Fresh Port.

Massive thanks to Ben from Bens Whisky Blog for running this share as otherwise this is the type of dram i just wouldn't have the opportunity to try.

The nose on this is brilliant, its got a hint of peat reek but it's like its infused with damson and sweetness, plum jam and apples, lots of fruitiness and a nose that really just makes you want to sip, the palate is just as good, adding a mix of sweet fruits, blackcurrant cordial and sweet smoke, delicious stuff that finishes with that trademark oilyness, almost going a little petrol like (in a good way).

Brilliant stuff, if you see this, snap it up.

Tasting Notes & Details

Oh wow! Gentle sweet juicy peat reek, it's like the smoke is infused with a delicious damson and plum jam sweet stewed apples and manukau honey play together with a slight engine oil / mechanics toolbox note.

So delicious sweet smoky manuka honey covered plums, hints of blackberry and blueberry pie, layers of pastry and biscuit notes, a hint of blackcurrant cordial too before spices and bitter citrus peel take over

Tangy, sweet, bitter, ongoing and growing more sweet petrol like
