Bowmore 30 Year Old Sea Dragon Review

Bowmore 30 Year Old Sea Drag A 30 year old Bowmore in a fabulous Ceramic bottle and with a serious collectibility factor? of course I'd like to try this so when JJ offered this one as a share I was straight onto it.

We believe this is from either the 1996 or 2003 release (not 100%) but with prices at auction and retailers heading above the £2000 a bottle mark this was a great dram to try.

If i'm 100% honest i was a little disappointed it what was essentially a salty coastal Bowmore with none of the huge peaty banana notes i expect or even those Parma Violet notes i enjoy in some of their drams.

A great experience to have tried this but despite being highly collectible and sought after this dram isn't one that ignites the fires when consumed.

Try specialists like The Whisky Exchange for bottles like this.

Many, many thanks to J from Whisky Rover for organising this share.

Tasting Notes & Details

I'm not sure what I was expecting here, maybe some peat, maybe some lavender, it's neither though, it's coastal and salty, light and fresh ozone around a BBQ, some treacle scone notes, strawberry & kiwi flavoured water, a touch of wax and honey too

Sweet and salty, this is really coastal with light peppery notes and freshly made salty chips and dusty warehouse like notes, edges of wood spices, vanilla and a touch of root vegetables.

Fresh, salty, but quite short
