Whistlepig 10 Year Old Straight Rye Review

Bernheim Original Kentucky Straight Wheat Whiskey I was lucky enough to be gifted for review a Drinks by the Dram American Whiskey Advent Calendar and this Whistlepig 10 Year Old Straight Rye is one of the drams from that calendar.

December is one of the busiest months of the year for me at work so i didnt get through all the whiskies as i had wanted, so reviews will be interspersed with others.

So is Whistlepig American or Canadian... interestingly this is distilled and initially matured in Canada before being sent to the USA for final maturation and bottling, confusing, yes, so lets just call it North American Whisk(e)y?

it's really nice stuff though, spicy and tangy but lots of really nice pear ice cream and biscuity notes too, nice dram

Thanks to Drinks by the Dram for the calendar.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Hugely sweet, syrupy, a hint of an anaesthetics mask, pear ice cream, pear drops, there's spices there but they're not too up front and are quite gentle, brandy snaps and a touch of ginger nut biscuits.

Palate

Stem ginger infused biscuits, fresh conference pears in syrup, more tasty nutty biscuits, vanilla infused cream, crushed pink wafers

Finish

Prickle of stem ginger
