Mortlach / Malts of Scotland

Mortlach 1997 Port Finish (Malts of Scotland) Review

Mortlach 1997 Port Finish (Malts of Scotland) I'm a huge fan of port matured or finished drams, i really enjoy the jam like qualities that they have and prefer the sweetness from them to the mostly spicy, nuty oloroso casks that many others prefer.

This 1997 - 2016 Mortlach was finished in Port casks and bottled by Malts of Scotland

When this dram was suggested as a share on a bottle share group i'm part of i jumped at the chance, its got those waxy, meaty notes you expect from Morltach but with a hit of Damson or Plum jam too, tasty stuff indeed.

Now sold out at The Whisky Exchange it's worth checking their site for any other interesting drams that may appear.

Tasting Notes & Details

light fresh furniture polish and waxy notes from the initial nose, fresh honeyed beeswax and juicy fruits in syrup with a hint of Damson and plum jam, light for the ABV

And here comes the ABV, meaty, charcuterie, dark dried and fresh fruits, raisins and plums and nectarines with woody spices and beeswax

thats got a finish on it, large spiced plums.
