Glendronach 1985 cask 1037 PX Sherry Puncheon Review

Glendronach 1985 cask 1037 PX Sherry Puncheon I've been lucky enough to try a lot of good whiskies, some great whiskies and a handful of amazing whiskies over the years and even i was excited by the range of single casks in Glendronachs batch 14 releases.

This 1985 vintage matured in PX is a bit of an odd-ball as i was expecting it to be far sweeter than it was, with notes of spices, and lindt chocolate with chilli being at the front and some gentle sweetness hiding in the background. Not my favourite from the batch 14 releases, but still pretty tasty.

Sold out anywhere i could find, so keep hunting for this one.

Thanks to Glendronach for the Official Sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

bitter dark chocolate and chilli spice, like Lindt dark chocolate with chilli, citrus fruit peel and peel, with hints of citrus oil, prunes and plum skins, sharp fruits. For a PX cask this is quite bitter and spicy on the nose.

Palate

And there's the sweetness it deserved, sweet juicy red grapes, plum flesh, menthol sweets, chilli spices, tangy oak spices and a hint of cloves

Finish

Ongoing sweet grapes and menthol with oak spices
