Glendronach 2002 PX Sherry Puncheon Cask 1504 Review

Glendronach 2002 PX Sherry Puncheon Cask 1504 I've been lucky enough to try a lot of good whiskies, some great whiskies and a handful of amazing whiskies over the years and even i was excited by the range of single casks in Glendronachs batch 14 releases.

This 2002 vintage matured in PX is just right up my street, full of jammy, sweet, sticky goodness, this is exactly how a PX matured whisky should be, lovely stuff and definitely one i want to have in my own drinking cupboard at home.

Sold out in most places, still available to buy from Robert Graham

Thanks to Glendronach for the Official Sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

light and sweet, a rich toffee caramel sauce coating light banana chips, apricot and fig jam and quite a large hint of spiced prunes, lovely and moreish

Palate

Sweet juicy fruits, the spice from the nose has gone and it's been replaced by more light caramel notes, toffee sauce and fresh figs, lots of thick jam but the mouthfeel is light and delicate, a light kick of oakyness creeps in after a couple of sips

Finish

Light to medium finish, sweet jam and fruits, with some oak in the background
