Glendronach 1996 PX Sherry Puncheon Cask 1485 Review

Glendronach 1996 PX Sherry Puncheon Cask 1485 I've been lucky enough to try a lot of good whiskies, some great whiskies and a handful of amazing whiskies over the years and even i was excited by the range of single casks in Glendronachs batch 14 releases.

This 1996 single cask which was matured in a PX Sherry Puncheon hits all the right notes for me, frirst up no rubber, but it does pruens, sweetness and edges of that bitter dark chocolate that i love.

If you love sherried whiskies, this will make a great addition, just make sure you drink it and dont have it just sit on a shelf.

Sold out in most places, still available to buy from Robert Graham

Thanks to Glendronach for the Official Sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

oh yum, toffee wrapped fig segments, wine poached pears with syrup, very dark chocolate shavings over a caramel latte, a hint of oak leaf sauce and coffee creamer in the background.

Palate

More bitter and drying than I was expecting from the nose, coffee grounds and bitter dark chocolate, prune juice, cinnamon and nutmeg spices, strong oak spices too

Finish

Spicy, woody, long lasting
