Morrison and Mackay / Morrison & Mackay

The Big Strand (Morrison & Mackay) Review

The Big Strand A heavily peated Islay single malt from an unnamed distillery at a reasonable price, yup i'm up for trying that.

Creamy, smouldering BBQ notes, lots of citrus underlying, then a huge swathe of coastal notes, seafood and saltiness, really nice stuff this, and very drinkable.

You can pick up a bottle from specialists like Master of Malt.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

straight away there's a creamy smoke, beachside BBQ with smouldering wet wood, and an acetone like nature to the smoke, lemongrass and hay smoked crustaceans with a hint of salty seaside chip shop chips.

Palate

Sweet initially, hints of toffee then it becomes really dry with wood smoke and charcoal briquettes, lemongrass and hay crustaceans again and a hint of salt and pepper crisps

Finish

Dry, smoky, medium long
