Timorous Beastie 40 Year Old Review

Douglas Laing Reveals a Highland Beast A 40 year old limited edition version at high ABV of a whisky that is a staple in my home whisky cupboard, well now that just sounds like whisky heaven to me.

The Timorous Beastie 40 Year released a little while back went out with a bang with most UK retailers selling out in hours and it seems to still be on short supply around the world.

sweet, juicy, rich, full flavoured, packed with awesomeness this £200 or so a bottle dram is just the ticket and i'm very much glad to have a bottle stashed away for a special occasion on which to sit and sip and enjoy this dram.

Many thanks to Douglas Laing for the sample as part of my Douglas Laing Fellows pack.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

sweet and waxy, beeswax and gently spiced natural honey combs, lots of juicy fruit elements, fruit salad chews and juicy fruit chewing gum, the oak is there but light, hints of candy floss more fruit skins as the dram sits in the glass

Palate

big thick waxy, beeswax, thick cut orange marmalade, oak wood influence hits here with light bark notes, a little furniture polish too, touches of dark chocolate fruit peels and skins almost like a sweet mince pie filling

Finish

waxy, floral, spices, honey, ongoing
