Port Askaig 8 Year Old Review

Port Askaig 8 year old Tasted as part of a Tweet Tasting organised by Steve Rush of The Whisky Wire in conjunction with Speciality Spirits this Port Askaig 8 year old is the youngest in the range of drams from this unidentified Islay distillery.

This is the type of peated dram i like, a creaminess and not so much harsh smoke, and a lot lighter on the palate than you would expect, very much a lovely easy drinking dram.

Available to buy from The Whisky Exchange

Thanks again to The Whisky Wire and Speciality Drinks for the inclusion on the Tweet Tasting.

Sweet and citrus fuelled peat with a big soft creamy buttery sweetness soft and inviting, some fresh grassy riverbank notes, and a bit of vanilla sponge,

Palate

Much lighter than I was expecting but it grows smokier & bbq notes, creamy and easy going, very clean with lemongrass and sweet light lemon peel waxiness.

Larger smokier notes that grow
